What started out as seventh heaven turned into Turkish hell as Chelsea threw away the lead against Fenerbahce tonight in the Champions League, suffering the first defeat in this seasons’ competition for Avram Grant.

An own goal by Deivid early on gave Chelsea the advantage in a half they dominated, however the second half proved to be the opposite with Fenerbahce looking far more dangerous.

Kazim-Richards led the fightback at a hostile Sukru Saracoglu Stadium to leave Chelsea’s Champions League hopes in the balance, and needing to win at Stamford Bridge next week to ensure passage to the next round.

Chelsea (4-3-3): Cudicini; Essien, Carvalho, Terry (c), A Cole; Ballack, Makelele, Lampard (Mikel 74); J Cole (Anelka 85), Drogba, Malouda.

Discuss this match and how it affects our Champions League challenge in our match day forums: Fenerbahce 2 - Chelsea 1.
