KALOU AT THE OLYMPICS

Salomon will represent the men’s football Ivory Coast squad for the Beijing Olympics, China.  The 23-year-old Chelsea striker has already faced Argentina in the opening set of games held in the Chinese capital.

Kalou, who has made 63 Chelsea appearances, scoring 14 goals, is the only Chelsea player to represent the 16 nations competing for the Gold medal.

The ex-Feyenoord striker is one of 15 Premiership players involved in this summer’s Olympics, including Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano and Ryan Babel, Manchester United’s Anderson and West Brom’s new signing, Gianni Zuiverloon.

Coverage of the Beijing Olympics, including Kalou’s match against Argentina today (Thursday) is from 12.45 BST and can be seen on the BBC Sport website.  Viewers can access live footage of men’s football, plus a range of other events from softball to tennis, if that’s your thing.
