As a City fan I think a lot of Chelsea fans have short memories. Before Abramovich Chelsea hadn't won the league since the mid 50's and not unlike City were a bit of a yo yo club (although I concede that before Abramovich they were a better prospect than City). Yet when the money rolled in Chelsea were enticing players on the promise of sky high wages and transfer fees. They are the last club in the world to be criticising City for trying to lure away players with high salaries - I could accept this from Liverpool, Arsenal or United fans. I honestly dont think that Terry is worth the money currently being offered by City anyway and I hope he stays at Chelsea

People seem to forget that the bid was rejected followed by a crystal clear statement from Carlo Ancellotti. The matter is closed in the REAL world.
And Mark Hughes has today said " he is a Chelsea player and we must respect that".

Are we saying that if JT isn't given those reassurances it is ok for him to Go? The club certainly is'nt investing at previous levels and with an ageing squad it can only get harder to compete year in year out on the Top europearn stage.
If he were to leave because of the lack of ambition it would be ridiculous , at his age to go to Man City because it is going to take them another few years to reach the levels they are aiming for.
For me whatever the current ambitions of the football club are I will still be watching them whereever they end up.
It wouldn't be a Tragedy if he left, I leave that word for whats going in in Afghanistan, it would though be a huge blow to the club and fans, and so please JT get yourself on Chelsea Telly and tell us you are staying, and please do so without accepting a pay rise , else it would all seem a bit engineered.

Graham, no single player IS a club. To think otherwise is, I'm afraid, blind idolatry.

JT is hugely important (arguably less so than in the past because of his injuries) and our only real leader. But the team would obviously survive his departure, eventually.

What is more concerning is that the board still appears confused, riven even, and unable to deal with relatively simple matters such as transfer and contract dealings, without mucking up and drawing things out with ham-fisted press briefings.

Im a city fan and this is a great article. I agree in that JT is chelsea and if he did move to city then something is seriously wrong. The trouble these days is that money has become such a significant factor and turns footballers heads quite easily, however i would be gobsmacked if terry moved for the money. I still think that there is a chance of him moving and my reasons are that ancelotti may consider JT to have too much influence over the team and has a free pass to speak to abramovitch when he wants, that is not an ideal situation for the manager as from what i have read JT actually played a big role in the downfall of mourinho. City will make waves in europe in the next couple of seasons with some exciting aquisitions and JT may see that as something that he wants to be part of and coupled with the offer of a new 5 year deal and massive salary and bonuses it may just be to much to turn down... football is a funny game and you never know the next move..
