I quite agree that the club's behaviour is consistently poor when it comes to transfers. And Platini's efforts to restrict the international movement of young players is to be applauded. If we're made an example of, that's one thing, but we can only hope that we're not the only ones to be punished. As numerous talking heads have said recently, this is an endemic problem. FIFA have probably identified one of the few ways to genuinely hurt a club whose spending power makes a fine a pointless penalty.

On the other hand, there may be a silver lining here. Who among us doesn't want to see more on the pitch of, say, Mancienne? Or Stoch? Or Kakuta, Sinclair and others? I'm not saying that an enforced 18 month ban doesn't present us with lots of problems. Conversely, the fallout from it may be that we're forced to play what we have, and the much-vaunted potential of some of these young players might just turn out to be genuine star quality. Wouldn't that be nice?

not great news admittedly and may well cause problems further down the line, but having read john hollins' doom laden comments in this mornings papers it struck me that there has been no mention of Ancellotti's 'milan lab' system which so dramatically reduced the injury problems at AC. if we can get that functioning at the bridge then perhaps it will bring a mentally strong squad even closer together.
