Juni, I'm sure you'll kick yourself that you missed this but Jan Sebek has previously played for a Czech team - he played three games for the Under-16s before joining Chelsea (against Ireland, Scotland and Serbia in Apr/May 07). His recent appearances for the Under-19s were his first since joining the club. I'm disappointed that you didn't pick up on that :-)

Thanks for the roundup. Mancienne had a solid game at rightback for England U21s. Dealt well with most of the questions asked of him and also ventured forward in attack at times. He also had a hand in England's only goal of the game. A long ball played by Mancienne was headed down in Rose's path by Carroll. Bertrand was okay, nothing much to write about him. Didn't impress me if I am being honest. Cork came on towards the end and had a shot saved and was tidy in the middle.

Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the tactics of Stuart Pearce. Too defensive at home with five in the middle. Carroll was left up the field on his own. The midfielders were too slow to give him support upfront and by the time they moved upfield, the Portuguese were back in numbers. Felt a bit sorry for the young crowd, about 33k who would have liked to see a bit more attacking intent from the England side. It wasn't as if we were playing Barcelona. It was Portugal U21 for God's sake and they didn't look that good to me at all. With Carroll and Sturridge upfront, we might have scored a couple more. I liked the looks of Cleverly, the Man United player on loan at Watford who is scoring for fun there.
