At last someone has noticed Zhirkov's contribution to the team. For starters the bloke is not a full back but a left sided midfielder but judging him on his performances since Ashley Cole's injury he is a more than capable defender. As a midfielder you would expect quality in the opposition's half of the field but in my opinion his defensive covering and tackling is second to none. Had it not been for him the home defeat against Inter would have been much worse. He made a couple of last ditch tackles worthy of Carvalho at his very best. And while I'm at it an honourable mention should also go to Alex and Paolo Ferreira. Since they came into the team we have looked much more solid and Mourinho-like in defence Well done Martin.
