Young Chelsea fans are being given the chance to get one step closer to the professional game this Summer with a cutting edge Soccer and Sports Science academy inspired by their beloved Chelsea FC – The International Football Development Academy. The academy is running 3 one week courses in July and August  focusing on player development, the science of football, scouting, making friends with players from all over the world and even FIFA 10 and Pro Evolution tournaments!

Academy directors Jay Cochrane and Tim Lees have set the academy up for “purist football lovers aged 8-19, who want to reach their potential.  Everyone has a highest level and we will help them achieve it.” Throughout the seasons the pair have scouted players for a variety of premier league clubs as well as coaching for some of europes biggest clubs. Lees, also a Bolton Wanderers and Everton school boy has gone into coaching after completing the high profile Pepsi Max World Challenge, where he represented England playing with Beckham, Henry and Nesta to name a few. Lees says “Football has been really good to me, I have been fortunate enough to travel the world playing and make some real friends out of it. I am now assistant Academy Director at Watford FC and wanted to bring academy standard football to the people who want it the most, the fans and the players not at academies. I cannot tell you how excited the team is for Summer, we are putting everything under the microscope.”

The iFDA’s recent work has been with South Korea’s Ji-Sung Park and Lee Chong Yung, filming on the set on the new Samsung advert. Coaching staff at The iFDA are being flown in from Italy, Iceland and recruited from all over the UK. All staff have worked at clubs such as Manchester United (apologies!) and AC Milan and so quality is assured. Places are strictly on a first come first served basis and are available to young Chelsea fans right now. For more information visit www.ifdauk.co.uk or email the coaches at info@ifdauk.co.uk for the most memorable Summer of your life.

You’ll find most of those players were sold on because the club needed cash or they had a buy our clause – the likes of Doyle had a buy out clause.

What are the main achievements of this international football development academy?

The main aim of The iFDA is to provide young people aged 8-19 with the unique football holiday of a lifetime. We want young people to have the opportunity to train as an elite athlete, regardless of ability and empower them in Sports Science, technique, tactics and general life skills. We are inviting all young Chelsea fans to attend one of the most, if not the most, comprehensive development packages available.
