“They played better than us and deserved to win this game,” Ancelotti said. “Also they deserve the title this year because they were better than the other teams”
Did we really expect to win yesterday and go on to win the title? For most Chelsea fans the answer is “Yes”. Do we really deserve to win the title this season? Possibly not.
After our mid-season blip we have done a remarkable job to claw our way back to 2nd and it would have been quite a comeback if we had retained the title, but it wasn’t meant to be.
If anyone had said to the majority of Chelsea fans a few months ago, you will finish 2nd, we’d have been over the moon and bitten their hand off for that but now it seems we are all dejected because we worked for 2nd and could very well finish there.
A number of people on Twitter yesterday were still hopeful of a top place, it is mathematically possible but is it likely? Probably not.
I will happily eat my words if Man U lose both of their remaining matches and we win ours but with the way the Reds are playing at the moment, it just won’t happen. They have got players firing on all cylinders, they work together as a year and apart from the silly dramatics, they are a class squad. (Those are difficult words to say as an avid hater of Fergie and his reds, but credit where credit is due)
Chelsea lacked any kind of momentum in yesterdays game and from where I was watching, were completely outplayed from the off.
A big shake up is much-needed at the bridge over the summer. But should this start with the manager? Ancelotti has been great for us this season, he has brought in two players for the future in Torres & Luiz and believes in developing a lot of the youngsters. Give Carlo the chance and I think next season we will see a lot of changes within the squad & successes.
I know this may be unpopular with some of you but we do need a clear out. Not everyone can play until they’re old and grey like Ryan Giggs. Essien has not had a great season so is likely to have a For Sale sign on his head come the end of the season as will Mikel & Malouda. Kalou has his moments but is not solid. On the other hand, Drogba gets a lot of stick but he creates great opportunities and is always pushing the team. When he is hitting it hard, nothing can stop him. And with a bit of work and team bonding, Didier & Nando will be a strike force to be reckoned with.
The Player of the Year for me is still Cech, he really is our rock. Always available, pushing the team forward and willing to take risks. Alex should also be congratulated on a good season, he has come back from injury & instantly fitted back in. He has the maturity that Luiz lacks & will be a great role model for him & other young players.
We have now pretty much got 2nd place in the bag and it would be a great time to give some of the younger players a run out over the next few games.
Whatever happens for the remainder of the season, we have done well to come back from a terrible time over Christmas and to land two big signings.
Let’s hope Roman see’s beyond this season and keeps King Carlo in the hot seat. Maybe adding Zola in as his wingman?! That would certainly get my vote!

CHELSEA HAS TO KEEP DROGBA, IF DROGBA GO THEN CHELSEA HAS A BIG PROBLEM , THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH CHELSEA AT THE MOMENT IS BAD MANAGER, AND EVERY GOOD CHELSEA FAN KNOWS ABOUT THAT …. ANCELOTTI HAS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!………. CHELSEA NEED A TACTICAL MANAGER AND MOURINHO IS THE MANAGER FOR CHELSEA.
This season is not the “one-off”. Last season was. Carlo’s honeymoon period, with a PL won on the last day of the season, that includes SIX PL defeats & plenty of average/poor performances that were buried amongst the 7 goal wins (Man City @ SB anyone?). This season has been a repetition of that inconsistency, and if we couldn’t win the PL this season then we never will again under Carlo; for all the plaudits aimed at United, they went into the game @ OT only 3 points ahead of a Chelsea team who had their worst run in FIFTEEN years earlier in the season. What does that tell you.
No, Carlo has been found wanting both tactically, and in man-management, and a replacement is justified. After that the new manager should be left to decide who he wants out and who he wants in, based on HIS tactics. No more square pegs in round holes from managers without the balls to purge the Mourinho era players.
His attitude, as with a number of the African contingent, is nowhere what it should be,”……….@mark conlon, what exactly is this supposed to mean? cfc has no place for racists. stereotyping africans or any other group is totally outdated. If anything cfc’s choice of players should tell you. ur biased summary of what u think should happen as a major overhaul goes against the fact that most of these u seem to b having a problem with have been pivotal in putting chelsea where it is now in the roman era.
Dustin, I think you need to do your research mate. Essien didn’t return to the side at the end of last season, he was injured in the December and didn’t play for the rest of the season. His comeback game was a pre-season friendly at Crystal Palace in August.
It’s time for him to be sold. He has never been technically gifted, but the attributes which he did possess are now nowhere to be seen. He has been given the runaround by a 37-year-old in the three games against United, whilst his performance against Spurs at home was a complete joke. His attitude, as with a number of the African contingent, is nowhere what it should be, and after seeing him walk off the pitch laughing when Everton knocked us out of the FA Cup he should never have played for us again. Harsh I know, but true all the same.
It’s time to build for the future; he’s not getting any younger and will only get worse from here on in. Ramires is a far better player, offers more in an attacking sense and is not afraid to put it about, as shown when he came on at OT on Sunday.
please.. sel out drogba if you really need to see torres at his best.lampard is a finished article,he has nothing to offer again.malouda is too slow as well as kalou and anelka.yuri is a waste of money and mikel will never improve.ferreira and bosingwa are jokers.please bring in- neymar , hazard , pastorer ,aguero ,vanderweil and adam johnson.peter cesh needs a back up goal-keeper,bring in begovic.
I agree Dustin, it would be stupid to sell Essien he had a bad injury like Lamps and Drogs he has not been his Powerful attack minded self. I remember when he 1st come to Chelsea all other Midfilders use to bounce of him he was that powerfu. He did not get the nicknames of the train and the Bison for nothing remeber that Mr Abromvitch and board of directors. Dont sell our best players get rid of the squad players, and buy fresh blood. Neymar, Lukulua, Vandawiel, and a world class understudy goalkeeper for Big Pete. Piazon will add to our attacking Midfield in Jan next year if not before, with rumors circulated he may come in the summer.
I would nearly cry myself to sleep if we sold Essien. His return to the team at the end of last season had an amazing impact and saved our double, so to sell him after one subpar season would be foolish beyound explanation. Mikel has suffered for years and we keep him (still not sure why), but Essien will be back at the top, so long as we can keep him from playing (injuring himself) internationally.
Cant agree more with you Essien is still young and we have to give him and Drogba more time. Lampard hasnt been great either so are gona get rid of him as well? maybe not. all we need is another creative midfielder and good wingers like sanchez and harzad. As for carlo he needs a good no 2 the man is not tactically very good. remember he won only one serie A in 8 years with millan with Kaka, great maldini, serdoff, inzagi in the side which is not good enough for me.
