THE NAME GAME

Chelsea have had some memorable players since they were founded in 1905, with a lot of players having some unforgettable names. Eddie Niedzwiecki, Mario Melchiot, even Slavisa Jokanovic sticks in my mind. But what about a line-up that all share something in common? Here’s a few I came up with.

Chelsea Three-Name FC
Formation: 3-5-2
Manager: Luiz Felipe Scolari

GK: Ed De Goey
RB: Asier Del Horno
CB: Tal Ben-Haim
LB: Graeme Le Saux
RM: Shaun Wright-Phillips
CM: Juan Sebastian Veron
CM: Roberto Di Matteo
CM: John Obi Mikel
LM: Sam Dalla Bona
CF: Tore Andre Flo
CF: Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Verdict: With all players in their prime, a strong side but would lack defensively.

Chelsea Double Initial FC
Formation: 3-4-3
Manager: Billy Birrell

GK: Carlo Cudicini
CB: Joey Jones
CB: Michael Mancienne
CB: Mario Melchiot
DM: Didier Deschamps
CM: Steve Sidwell
CM: Jiri Jarosik
AM: George Graham
CF: Barry Bridges
CF: Carlton Cole
CF: Didier Drogba

Verdict: Again, the defense looks weak, but a formidable midfield and attack.

Chelsea One Name FC (5-a-side)
Formation: 1-2-1

GK: Hilario
CB: Alex
CM: Tiago
CM: Ramires
FW: Deco

Verdict: Wouldn’t like to face this side at my local goals team, a true mix of Brazilian and Portuguese flair!

Could you name any? If you can we’d love to hear them!
Until next time, OC.
