CHELSEA SHORT ODDS TO BEAT SWANSEA BUT BIG ODDS TO WIN PREMIERSHIP

Chelsea may have been beaten by Man Utd last week but there was certainly plenty of promise in the performance with the scoreline flattering the Champions for sure. The bookies seem to have overreacted to the result given Man Utd are only five points clear of Chelsea as they have pushed Chelsea out to 6/1 to win the title, that looks a big price, especially if you consider the lead Chelsea gave up at the start of last season, it is worth remembering that there are still 33 games left in the Premiership season.

Chelsea should have few problems getting back on track with a win this weekend as they play Swansea at home and they could even close the gap on Man Utd with Stoke away looking a tough trip for the league leaders. The bookies make Chelsea an almost certainty to beat Swansea who have lost both of their away games so far, 1/5 are the odds being offered on a home win and although that won’t make anyone rich, 20% is a much better return than you get from a bank in a day. Swansea are a huge price to cause an upset and win the match, 16/1 are the odds on an away win whilst the draw is 11/2.

If betting on 1/5 shots isn’t doesn’t really appeal but you strongly fancy Chelsea to win the match comfortably then the handicap market is likely to make plenty of appeal when you can bet on to win by a certain amount of goals. Chelsea are still quite a short price to win by more than one goal, that outcome is just 4/7. The margin of victory that makes much more appeal from a betting point of view is Chelsea winning by more than two goals, that is 7/5 at the time of writing and the jump from 4/7 to 7/5 looks a big one for just one more goal, the fact that Swansea have conceded five goals in their two away matches so far and not scored in those matches suggests that 7/5 is a good price.

With Chelsea likely to win by two or more goals and likely to keep a clean sheet (a clean sheet can be backed at 6/10) the most likely correct score for this match looks to be 3-0, a scoreline that is available at 13/2 currently. With a win sided game in store we only need to concentrate on Chelsea players to score the first goal, Didier Drogba will be hoping to return from his head injury and is 11/4 favourite to score first, slightly ahead of Fernando Torres who scored a great goal against Man Utd only to go and miss an open goal, Torres is 3/1 to score first. At bigger prices Juan Mata looks decent value at 11/2 whilst Frank Lampard definitely looks overpriced to score the first goal at 8/1 considering he will get his fair chance of set pieces in this match.

Are Chelsea nailed on for victory this weekend against Swansea? Would you back them at the current odds to win the game? Are you backing Chelsea at 6/1 to win the Premiership title? Let us know your thoughts.
