WHAT WILL CHELSEA WIN THIS SEASON?

Chelsea’s season is beginning to look more promising as each week passes, the team looks to be gelling well under Andre Villas-Boas and there can be plenty of hope that Chelsea will be very realistic title contenders this season but how many competitions can Chelsea win this season, if any?

The bookies think that Chelsea are most likely to go trophyless this season although it is almost 50:50 as to whether or not Andre Villas-Boas picks up a trophy in his first season as Chelsea manager, you can get 10/11 that Chelsea go trophyless this season whilst at least one trophy is rated at 6/5 at the moment. The most likely trophy out of them all according to the bookies is the Premiership and surely most would be pretty happy even if that’s the only trophy Chelsea win this season, with more improvement likely next season when AVB has had more time to put his mark on the team.

Chelsea may be 4/1 third favourites to win the title but Man Utd looked fairly lucky to beat Chelsea at Old Trafford and have looked fairly fragile in defence recently. They are rightly the favourites but whether or not 10/11 offers much value is up for debate, as is the price on Man City winning the title at just 5/2. City have only really faced Spurs so far and would have been expected to win most their games comfortably. Out of the stronger teams they have played, they have drawn at home to Napoli and well beaten at Bayern Munich.

The bookies think that the Carling Cup is next most likely at 11/2, just ahead of the FA Cup which is 6/1, but the latter looks the better bet considering Chelsea’s recent record in the respective competitions. Chelsea have won the Carling Cup twice in seven years but have failed to reach the final for three years now whilst the FA Cup looks more of a priority with three wins in just five years.

Andre Villas-Boas would surely be hailed as one of the best managers ever if he could pull off a historic quadruple in his first season in the job and the bookies offer a variety of odds on this, the quadruple is as short as 400/1 but as big as 1000/1 this season. Andre Villas-Boas won the treble with Porto last season and you can get 200/1 that Chelsea win the domestic treble or 250/1 that Chelsea win the Premiership, FA Cup and Champions League. The bookies are currently offering odds on each combination of trophy multiples this season. Visit the link in this paragraph to pick up a generous free bet on your selection.
