Back Chelsea Next Season With Winnings From Euro 2012 Semi Finals

With the Euro 2012 Final less than a week away it is not long until the bandwagon for the new Premiership season begins to gather pace and in the coming weeks we can expect plenty gossip and transfer rumours ahead of the new season. For now we have the Euro 2012 semi finals coming up and there seem to be some decent bets to be had in both matches that could pay for a few bets on Chelsea this coming season.

The first of the semi finals at Euro 2012 is Portugal v Spain tonight and has all the hallmarks of a low scoring match, Portugal have already been involved in two 1-0s whilst three quarters of Spain’s games so far have had under 2.5 goals. Portugal were very negative when they played Germany in their opening match and it would be no surprise to see repeat tactics used whilst Spain are bound to dominate possession but they don’t seem to create the chances they used to. The safest bet at backable odds in this game is probably going to be under 2.5 goals which is available at 8/15 at the time of writing.

At bigger odds Spain appeal to get the job done in 90 minutes, they have the pedigree in these big games and were winning Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup whilst Portugal were getting eliminated in the first knockout round. It is also worth noting that Spain haven’t even conceded a goal in knockout football for six years so Portugal are up against it here making the evens on Spain winning this match look rather nice. At an even bigger price it should also pay to back 1-0 Spain, a score line by which they have won four of their last six knockout games. Only a last minute penalty cost backers of that scoreline against France and at 5/1 this could be one of the best bets of the semi finals.

Germany v Italy might be a little more open but don’t expect a huge amount of goals in games involving Italy. Their negativity could cost them against the freescoring Germans though who look overpriced at 10/11 to win this match considering Germany have won all four Euro 2012 matches whilst Italy have won just one! A 2-1 win for Germany also looks a good bet, Germany have conceded an average of a goal a game whilst Italy have scored an average of a goal a game and since Germany have won three out of four games by a one goal margin that winning margin could be recreated here. If Germany concede once and win by a one goal margin the correct score will be 2-1 and at 9/1 the bookies are taking a bit of a chance with those odds.

Both favourites look very strong in their respective semi finals so it is a surprise that the double pays just under 3/1, that looks a good bet whilst those who like a bit more risk could be enticed by the correct score double. A 1-0 win for Spain and a 2-1 win for Germany is available at combined odds of 49/1 and with that sort of return Chelsea fans will be able to have a decent bet on the quadruple next season!
