FOG DOESN’T STOP BIG PHILEAS

Phew. Just want we needed. Chelsea cruised past Southend this evening. The game was originally called off due to fog before the game, but was back on again as the fog magically disappeared. Big Phil must have hoped the fog would return when Southend went one nil up with their first corner of the game. It was just about the first time that Southend had got out of their half. Plan B tonight was zonal marking at set pieces and it failed miserably at the first attempt.

Chelsea piled on the pressure and eventually broke down the resolute Southend defence on half time. The goal came from Ballack after his previous 100 shots had disappeared into the North Sea.

Southend changed their battle plan at the start of the second half and opened up a little. On 60 mins Kalou slotted home calmly. The game was wide open now and Anelka finally settled my nerves on 78 minutes. On 90mins Lampard finally ensured a 4th round home tie against Ipswich Town. Whom, I’m sure will be the latest wig wearing, fancy dressed fans to come to the Bridge and mock us with the “where were you” chant. I’m sure it will be an interesting roller coaster ride for both sets of fans on the day.

Bring it on I say, coz Chelsea are back! (Hopefully)
