DROGBA SETS UP ITALIAN JOB

A tale of two halves for Guus’s first home match last night at Stamford Bridge. Drogba lit up an already lively Bridge with his first goal this year after just 12 minutes. Scoring in front of the Shed End, Drogba initially ran to celebrate in front of the “friends and family” corporate box before sharing the celebration with some “normal” fans in the front row of the Shed Lower.

Chelsea continued to control for most of the first half, although just after I recieved a text from a clairvoyant Rob Hobson exclaiming that we were in control, there was a period of Juventus pressure.

Unlike Inter Milan, who after a prep talk from Mourinho improved somewhat, Chelsea put in a rather diluted performance in the second half. Juventus were allowed into the game more but defensively Chelsea had enough to limit the Juventus attempts with only one heart stopping moment right at the end of the game when it looked like Nedved had scored.

With just the one goal to take to Italy there’s some hard graft to be put in but with the additional 14 days or so with Guus at the helm let’s hope we don’t end up with too much of a cliff hanger in Chelsea‚Äôs very own Italian job type hoist.
