From Selhurst Park, to Amsterdam. Yes, just a bit of a difference in locations and stadia, but, with the step-up, there also came disappointment, as we lost 3-1 to Ajax in our second pre-season game. With both Petr Cech and Alex out due to injury, Ross Turnbull and Hilario shared 45 minutes each in goal. Jeffrey Bruma, who had played at right-back against Crystal Palace stepped in to central defence due to the absence of Alex. Along with Bruma there were also starting places for our Youth Cup winners, Josh McEachran and Billy Clifford. For the full report on our trip to Amsterdam click on the link.

Carlo Ancelotti gave his post-match reaction after the game saying ‘It was the second game of the pre-season, we have to improve, but I can be happy for this performance.’ Carlo was also extremely pleased again with Michael Essien’s performance after our Ghanaian played 73 minutes.
