With the start of the season getting ever nearer, we hop the short journey from the Netherlands to Germany for our third pre-season game. Last week it was Ajax and a 3-1 defeat, Sunday, however, could be a different story, as we now have our first team squad back after their holidays as we take on Eintracht Frankfurt. Amongst those players that could see a piece of the action is Yossi Benayoun. He comes back after recovering sufficiently from a groin strain.

There are four players who will remain in England, they are Cech, Alex, Bosingwa and Deco. To read about the players who could feature on Sunday, click on the Numbers Boosted For Frankfurt link.

Our reserves had their second pre-season game on Thursday evening. There were a lot of youth players stepping up for the game against Wycombe Wanderers. After taking the lead through Aliu ‘Kaby’ Djalo, we succumbed to an eventual 5-1 defeat. To read about the details click on the Reserve Report

Nicolas Anelka has spoken about how important it is for Chelsea to win our next two pre-season games against Eintracht Frankfurt and SV Hamburg respectively. These games are for building fitness levels, however Anelka adds “We have two games in Germany, so we play them and we want to win them, that’s the most important thing. It is good to start in that way before the season, we have a good team and when you play for Chelsea, you have to win all your games, so we will go there and try to come back with good results.” You can read the rest of what Nicolas Anelka had to say by clicking on his name.
