Carlo Ancelotti has promised a ‘big surprise’ for Sir Alex and co, but he wouldn’t dare, would he? Play 4-3-3 with Anelka, Drogba and Torres up front! I, for one, hope not.
The reason why Chelsea are not performing, to the standards of recent years, is because too many of our top stars are not delivering, couple this with our inability to beat a man and bingo, therein lies the problem. So, maybe the surprise is a return to 4-3-3, with Benayoun on the right, Malouda on the left and Torres up front. The latter would certainly benefit with crosses from either flank, as opposed to, coming deep or going wide, just to get involved.
As we all thought, Tuesday night is make or break for Season 2010/11. We need to score twice at OT, something that we are very capable of, if, Ancelotti gets the system right and Essien, Lampard and Ramires click. These three really are as good as it gets and on their day, are a match for any midfield, including Barcelona. They need to keep it simple, move it quick and be available at all times for the simple return. Messi has been quoted as saying Chelsea are our biggest rivals!
We need width at OT as well, which is why I am predicting Malouda, Torres and Benayoun. Ashley Cole and Malouda had a good understanding, whilst Benayoun and Torres are chums off the pitch and know each other well on it, from their Liverpool days. My team prediction is Cech, Cole, Terry, Alex, Ivanovic, Ramires, Essien, Lampard, Malouda, Benayoun and Torres.
Man Utd have no injury worries apart from Rafael. Ferguson said, after the first leg, that they (Chelsea) like to pack the midfield, so we concentrated on counter-acting that! That is why we can surprise him and play quick, expansive football with movement. Man Utd struggle ,when faced, with power and movement.
I have a very, very good feeling about Tuesday night, in fact I’m more optimistic now, than before the first leg. We know what we have to do, and maybe, they will be caught between protecting their lead and pressing forward.
JT and co, do us proud, beat them and keep our season alive!
