One of CFCnet’s contacts emailed us the day after Chelsea knocked out Barca (just how sweet was that Torres goal?) to give us an exclusive peek inside the Allianz Arena.  Given it’s Bayern’s home ground we’re not going to big it up too much, but it’s useful to have a look inside the stadium where we’ll be watching the Blues battle it out for the Champions League 2012.

The iconic stadium is known for the distinctive illuminated ‘cushions’ on the exterior facade, which change to red, blue or white depending on who is playing inside. The Allianz Arena took three years to build, and since its official opening on May 31, 2005, has hosted 15 million fans and over 300 matches.  Capacity? 66,000 or 70,000 if you add the prawns.

Click here for an interactive 360° panorama tour which takes you into the dressing room, down the players’ tunnel and onto the pitch, the same walk Chelsea will take in just three weeks’ time.

A short film has also been released – which you can watch here – exploring the Arena inside and out.

Finally a camping tip:  there is a beer festival 30 minutes from the Allianz Arena called the Green Farm Festival run by an English guy called Paul Daly. The festival offers great music, camping, showers, food stalls, pub, beer garden etc.  The bar is open until at least 4 am and the camping is available on Friday (18th), Saturday (19th) and Sunday (20th May) nights costing just € 5 a night. The festival costs € 7 a day.

See you in Munich.
