Sky Sports have announced that there will be an official probe in to the alleged racist comments made online by a Twitter user from Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police received a number of complaints regarding the comments made to Rio Ferdinands Twitter account referring to Chelsea’s Ashley Cole as a ‘choc ice’, to which Rio replied ‘I hear you fella, choc ice is a classic, hahahahaha’

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said “We have received complaints from members of the public regarding alleged racist comments made on a social networking site. “These concerns will be fully investigated to establish whether any criminal offences have been committed.”

It is said to be in response to Ashley Cole providing evidence in John Terry’s defence, to which he has been cleared of any charges. It seems Rio Ferdinand became somewhat frustrated with Ashley Cole giving evidence in the trial, but claims his comment was implying that Ashley Cole was fake. But various experts have given they’re own opinion to what that term really means.

With that said, the Police have confirmed however that they will not be investigating Rio Ferdinand’s comments.

I’d like to give my full opinion on this, but I’ll save that for another day perhaps, I’m pretty sure you all know what I feel about this.
