What next for Malouda?
A Chelsea player since 2007, his form has been a roller coaster ride and future uncertain for several transfer windows, yet he has stayed. Fortunately, he has been part of a squad that has won one Premier League title, 3 FA Cups and of course, the Champions League.
Fans have not necessarily been on his side and Interim and current manager Di Matteo has not given him many minutes on the pitch either. Malouda himself has expressed his desire to prolong his Chelsea tenure on several occasions upto and until the 2014 World Cup Final in Brazil, where he would then finish his career with a Brazilian side.
Ironically, he has always been an important player for the French national team, with whom he qualifies as a citizen despite being from a Haitian background. His form has always been consistent with Les Bleus and fans have wondered why it has not been the same in Chelsea colours.
Will he finally depart this transfer window, now that he has achieved everything possible with Chelsea? Will he follow the likes of Drogba, Bosingwa and Kalou out the door?
Brazilian club Santos, who are popular due to their superstar Neymar, admitted they have had unofficial talks with our number 15, hoping they may be able to snatch him away from Stamford Bridge before the window closes. Abramovich is trying to slowly oust the old guard and replacing them with new, young talent, and Malouda may be the next 30 year old on his list to depart the club.
