Welcome to Tuesday’s transfer round up, we will talk you through the potential ins and outs in the coming transfer window, according to gossip, sources and rumours. Please bare in mind, this is gossip, if you don’t like gossip, don’t read on!
First off, with all the talk surrounding Ashley Cole’s contract situation, there was bound to be a few left backs linked with us. Whether you feel we can rely on Ryan Bertrand and Patrick Van Aanholt or not, there is every chance that Abramovich will want extra cover in that position. I personally feel that Bertrand is ready to step up, if needs must, but I am also excited at the prospect of possibly bringing in Lille’s Lucas Digne.
Digne is a 19-year-old France youth international who has recently broke into the Lille first team, he’s rated very highly amongst pundits and is wanted by Real Madrid, Man Utd, and now us. The rumours state that we are scouting the youngster at the moment, which may not mean anything, after all, we scout players every day. But with the Cole situation, this might be worth keeping an eye on.
That man Radamel Falcao has been talked about once again. Personally, I believe he will sign for us in January for around £40 million. There is no doubt that we will sign a striker in January, Neymar will not be going anywhere until the end of the season, and I simply feel Abramovich is not prepared to wait until then and will quite possibly cave in for Falcao in January.
Lets face it, Torres IS scoring goals yes, there is no doubting that, and he is working hard for the team, but I am growing increasingly concerned over his positioning, his frustrations at not getting much of the ball and his lack of finesse. I am constantly seeing him drift wide and put crosses in, as well as dropping far too deep in frustration to see the ball. Unfortunately with all our play makers on board now, we do not need our centre forward to be a play maker, we need him to be a finisher, getting in the box, hanging off the last man, making runs in behind, being a goal poacher in the right place at the right time to turn around and bang in a goal. We need someone to be the end product, we create, create, create, we now need a prolific finisher to end the creative moves. Falcao is the man to do that.
He has hinted over the weekend his strongest hint yet that he will be joining us in January, ruling out staying in La Liga and even mentioning that ‘The Champions of Europe are in England’. I feel this is all but a done deal now.
So, moving on to the next ‘rumour’, Sergio Busquets, known for his diving abilities, I’m not so sure this would be the most popular signing. However, there is no doubting his ability, he is one of the best holding midfielders around currently and is still only 24-years old. I do feel this is just simply speculation though and can’t see this happening.
I can still see Everton’s Marouane Fellaini joining us in January, we cannot forget that he did state that he could leave Everton in January, nor can we forget that he is on our shortlist and has been wanted by Abramovich for two seasons now, this could well happen along with Falcao.
Meanwhile, Lampard is joining LA Galaxy (again!) and John Terry is leaving. FAT CHANCE! Lampard, I can see leaving at the end of the season, and yes probably will join his pal David Beckham in the celebrity world of Los Angeles, but John Terry leaving, no, not yet anyway. He is still our captain, he still has a lot more the achieve at the club where his heart is, the club he loves with a passion, the club he would simply die for, he bleeds blue, trust that.
Finally, David Luiz is becoming a huge concern for me, the more I watch him, the more I feel that he is our weakest link. He is a liability at the back and has often been the cause of us conceding silly goals. Natural ability, he has tons of it, playing football, he is excellent at that, but defending, I just feel he is not a defender. Gary Cahill is the most under rated player in the Premier League and simply must start alongside John Terry, until we bring in another younger centre back, someone like Germany’s Mats Hummels. I feel our defence can be liable at times and lacks some pace.
That wraps it up for today, but follow my Twitter here >> @chelseafctbos for the latest Chelsea news and rumours.
