In what has been a tempestuous fortnight, let’s get back to football and forget about all the off field matters. For those who have been either off the planet or living under a rock, Chelsea endured their first loss of the premiership campaign under extraordinary circumstances against bitter rivals Manchester United. However on Wednesday night Chelsea stormed back to win what could be a more important game in hindsight against the same opponents 5-4.
This weekend Chelsea have an opportunity to create a bigger gap at the top of the table with United hosting Arsenal, and City having a tricky fixture away to West Ham. All that stands in our way is Michael Laudraups inconsistent Swansea. Whether it’s inconsistency or Swansea just not being able to compete with the big boys they have had their troubles. Chelsea on the other hand will be ready to go and get their league campaign back on track. With RDM somewhat shuffling the side in the Capital One Cup, we should see a more normal side against Swansea away.
Nevertheless there is one dilemma that must be discussed, and that is who starts upfront against Swansea? Yes Fernando Torres has started every game he’s been available to but let’s be honest he does not deserve the service of the royal trio (Oscar,Mata,Hazard). Torres is done and it is so plain to see so until Falcao arrives, then we must deal with this Torres/Sturridge debate. RDM gave Sturridge the start on Wednesday and although he was rusty he was still ok. He got his goal, was selfish, and linked up well with Moses- who by the way deserves more playing time. Thus it is obvious that Sturridge should get a run of games with the new look Chelsea and see how many goals he could ship, bet your money it would be much more than the 50 million dollar man could get.
Chelsea should be able to come away with this win, the Chelsea of last year drew 1-1 with Swansea from a last minute og. This time around Chelse have a new identity and will prove to be too much for Swansea, who will make it an open game.
Possible starting xi: Cech, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill, Cole, Mikel Ramires Hazard Oscar Mata Sturridge.
Score Prediction: Swansea 2 Chelsea 5
