The rumours are hotting up at the same rate as the English weather as we vastly approach silly season. Just as Chelsea prepare to take on Galatasaray at Stamford Bridge, unsurprisingly all the talk before the match is surrounding former king of the Bridge, Didier Drogba.

The 36-year-old Ivorian hit man will make an emotional return to the club where he really stamped his authority and made his home. The Chelsea supporters are eager to welcome ‘the Drog’ back home. Another man who is keen to see him return is manager Jose Mourinho. In fact in his press conference on Monday, the Portuguese motivator confirmed he believes that Drogba will be back at Chelsea one day very soon, in some form or another. Drogba will become a free agent at the end of this season, thus sparking rumours whether there might be one final spell at Chelsea in a playing role, before joining the coaching team. Comments from the supporters fresh after the conference would suggest that even a veteran Drogba could do a better job than the current set of strikers. Mourinho too confirmed that although he is not the player he was at 26, he is still one of the current best strikers in the world, confirming that he still has faith in his ability.

Meanwhile, there is more and more suggestions that Chelsea could well be looking to bring in 23-year-old Milan striker Mario Balotelli. The former Manchester City forward has become unsettled in Serie A and off the back of comments from the Italian international suggesting he would like to work with Mourinho again. The Chelsea boss has recently retaliated with a similar suggestion that he too would welcome working with Balotelli again. Sky Sports News and Yahoo have both reported comments from Mourinho saying “I’m not going to be manager of Milan or the Italy national team, but he’s a good kid and somebody I’d like to work with again.” With Mourinho complaining about a lack of killer instinct, I would not be surprised if we saw Balotelli arrive along with Drogba this summer to bolster the attack.

Another rumour that has been circulating surrounds Everton’s on loan attacking midfielder Gerard Deulofeu. The young Spaniard who is on loan from Barcelona, is apparently being watched by Mourinho very closely and the Chelsea boss is said to be impressed with his direct style. At the moment this rumour is not being picked up nationally and is more than likely to stay as just a rumour, but certainly something to keep an eye on.

Finally, Talksport are reporting that Chelsea are set to battle it out with Manchester United in an attempt to bring in two Athletico Madrid stars in the shape of Diego Costa and Luis Filipe. Costa has been a well known Blues target for some time now and could certainly arrive at The Bridge this summer along with the above mentioned names. Chelsea also would like to bring in a left back, with Southampton’s Luke Shaw topping the list. However, according to AS, they are also keeping an eye on Brazilian full back Filipe, 28.
