As Chelsea put in the final preparations for Wednesday evenings clash against Everton at Stamford Bridge, they are boosted by the news that leading goal maker Cesc Fabregas is set to return to his pinnacle role in the centre of the park after his injury, alongside super stopper Nemanja Matic.
Last season Chelsea missed out on the title mainly due to a lack of a goal scorer but more importantly the lack of a deeper lying play maker. This season they have Diego Costa scoring goals, and the magician that is Fabregas making goals from deep. It is this missing ingredient that has really made the difference this year and that emphasises the importance of Fabregas’s return to the side.
Elsewhere Diego Costa is still suspended after his FA charge and it is likely that Loic Remy will be given another chance up top. Juan Cuadrado may be in line for his starting debut in front of the Stamford Bridge faithful and the rest of the team pretty much picks itself.
Chelsea ran out 6-3 winners at Goodison Park earlier in the season and have won 4 of the last 5 games against The Toffees. Having said that it will always be a tough game against Everton and until recently they have been a Chelsea bogy side. I still feel it will be a comfortable score-line but Mourinho’s men will have to battle for it.
