According to Le Sport 10, Chelsea have made a formal approach in terms of an offer to Shakhtar Donetsk for Douglas Costa.

The French publication suggests that a fee of around £22 million is what is being offered by the Blues, but that Paris Saint Germain are also interested in his services.

Costa was the subject of a January offer from Chelsea but it was refused by his club due to not meeting their valuation, which was said to be around the £20 million mark. Chelsea have apparently upped their offer now and Costa very much wants the move to happen.

Costa is a 24-year-old Brazil international and is thought to be seen as a good option to team up with another Costa, Diego, who is already at the club. Douglas Costa can play anywhere across the attacking midfield or up top so it’s his versatility that makes him appealing to Jose Mourinho.

The report concludes that the ball is now in the court of Shakhtar and that Chelsea are patiently awaiting their response to the offer.
