According to reports, Inter Milan are struggling to afford to keep hold of star striker Mauro Icardi, who is wanted by Chelsea in widely known news.

Icardi was set to sign a new deal with Inter, who want to seal him in to a contract in order to get the highest fee for their player. But problems with player image rights means their is an outstanding £1 million and it is thought that Inter can no longer afford to seal the deal.

These events have alerted Chelsea who have scouts watching Icardi regularly. The player is wanted by Jose Mourinho who, according to reports in Italy, has recently sent the player text messages telling him to come to Chelsea.

Chelsea are in pole position to land the signature of the 21-year old Argentine this summer and Moruinho see’s him as excellent competition for Diego Costa, having already knocked up 16 goals this season in Serie A. Icardi is a highly rated forward and will assess his options as Chelsea look set to lose both Loic Remy and Didier Drogba this summer.
