Welcome to Thursday’s transfer update from CFCnet, where we take a look at the various potential arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge this summer.
Once again we are back to the Oscar situation. Out of character and under performing this year for Jose Mourinho’s side and it seems he is starting to become out of favour with the Portuguese Boss too. Chelsea are certainly weighing up the options to sell Oscar and generating some cash in order to spend this summer, with Juventus waiting in the wings with serious interest to take the Brazilian international. There is also apparent interest from Liverpool, but it’s unlikely he’ll be allowed to stay in the Premier League.
For me, if we can sign Paul Pogba or Jorge Koke who are both targets, then Oscar must move on. A great player but I’m unsure whether he has enough to offer to be starter anymore.
According to The Daily Mirror this morning, Chelsea are flirting with the option of making a move for Atletico Madrid centre back Diego Godin. It is the other Madrid’s Raphael Varane who Mourinho really wants but it appears his club are hugely reluctant to sell so other options are being explored.
I’m not sure that we’d sign Godin, with Kurt Zouma coming through and already looking the real deal. There may well be another younger option available instead of Godin, who no doubt does have the talent.
The same publication are also stating that Chelsea are to reopen their interest in West Ham attacker Enner Valencia, who they have already made enquiries about during the January transfer window.
Mourinho certainly doesn’t seem overly happy or confident in his current wide attacking options and Juan Cuadrado not been given the confidence of starting yet, I’m pretty certain their will be potential arrivals in those areas this summer. Valencia would be keen to move to a Champions League club and the fee could be more appropriate baring in mind financial fair play.
Finally, Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to show an interest in goalkeeper Petr Cech, who will be leaving this summer but only to a foreign club and for a decent amount of money, according to Mourinho.
