Welcome to the mid-week roundup of the potential comings and goings in and around Stamford Bridge this summer.
With the apparent coup of Brazilian wonder kid Nathan just around the corner, who else will be joining him this summer in what is expected to be an eventful one?
First off, Tottenham striker and former Arsenal man Emmanuel Adabayor has stated that he will only leave Spurs this summer if it’s for Chelsea or Real Madrid. There were suggestions previously stating that Chelsea were weighing up a move for the big striker as they searched for a cheap option to come in and replace Didier Drogba, who was expected to be leaving this summer.
Which brings me to my next subject, Drogba himself. The Chelsea legend has confirmed that he will not be retiring at the end of this season, putting the ball firmly in Chelsea’s court as to whether they’ll give him another season or not as a backup striker.
To me, it could be sensible to keep Drogba as a third striker, there are many talented forwards who are prepared to sit on the bench all season, especially ones as influential and passionate about the football club as Drogba is.
Meanwhile, Stoke City are expected to sign Victor Moses on a permanent deal from Chelsea this summer as Mark Hughes confirms he is not put off by the wingers injury problems and both Manchester clubs are apparently in for England players Raheem Sterling and Nathaniel Clyne as well as Chelsea.
Gael Kakuta could finally be leaving Chelsea permanently. A player who seems to have been at Chelsea forever, but only loaned out to other clubs, is wanted by Monaco and could make the switch this summer.
Finally, just in… Once again the chase for Inter striker Mauro Icardi looks even closer to becoming a done deal this summer as reports state that his club have began the search for his replacement already.
And Jose Mourinho wants to make an offer for Aaron Cresswell of West Ham as extra backup for the left back spot with Filipe Luis’s future uncertain. The 25-year-old has been a consistent defender for West Ham and has apparently gained an admirer in Mourinho.
