Welcome to Monday’s transfer news update from CFCnet where we take a look at the potential arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge this coming summer, in what is shaping up to be a very busy window for the Blues.

A couple of new names are being talked about today in terms of players being linked with the club and one of those men is Barcelona starlet Pedro. Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo have stated that Chelsea are looking to make an offer of around £22 million for the winger, who has fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou this season.

Arsenal are also interested but it is Chelsea who are apparently showing the most interest right now as they look at a realistic target.

My take? Pedro is 27-years-old now, a great winger but I’m not so sure that we should be prioritising this move. I’d sooner someone younger, which is surely possible around the same price bracket. If the fee could be knocked down then I could understand some interest, but not at £22 million even though you will be getting a proven Spanish International, so that fee could also be looked at as being good.

This next player is being compared to two of the greatest holding midfielders of all time in the shape of Claude Makelele and Patrick Vieira, and he is also French. We are of course referring to tough tackling Gianelli Imbula from Marseille, the latest to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Imbula however is different than the pre-mentioned legends, being he is more a box to box midfielder with a lot to offer going forward as well. It is reported by a number of press outlets that Chelsea are readying an offer of around £20 million for the 22-year-old.

Once again, this could be seen as a bargain deal for this young starlet, who is eligible to play for France, Belgium or Dr Congo at senior international level. He is highly rated and the fee certainly mirrors Chelsea’s recent policy of buying fairly cheap and not being over charged by a big name. I feel this is an area of the pitch that we could certainly do with more versatility so I am not adverse to this deal if it were to go through.

Finally, Mr Gareth Bale had been out of the news for a couple of weeks so it was about time he popped up once again. And once again it is Chelsea who are being mentioned in the same breath as the Welsh International who has recently stated he wishes to remain at Real Madrid. However, The Express are claiming that Madrid may well be willing to let Bale go and cash in on his £75 million apparent buyout clause.

I really don’t see him leaving this summer, I’d be shocked if he did.
