Good morning and welcome to Saturday’s transfer news update from CFCnet, where we bring you the latest potential arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge ahead of what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window.

First up, various press outlets are reporting that Chelsea legend Didier Drogba may well be weighing up his options of a move to the MLS in America, having always fancied trying out a season over there following in the footsteps of many other class acts before him including David Beckham and Thierry Henry. Drogba however has stated that he is willing to stay at Chelsea and the decision is with owner Roman Abramovich according to Manager Jose Mourinho. He does have a coaching role at Stamford Bridge in the future regardless of where he goes next season.

Meanwhile West Ham’s Barcelona loanee Alex Song is reported to be desired to stay in the Premier League but not with west Ham. The former Arsenal man could well be available at a cut price and this is what may well interest Chelsea in the move, who have been rumoured to be interested.

It’s an area on the pitch where we could do with some reinforcements especially if John Obi Mikel does leave. Song at the right price could be a decent option to add some quality depth.

Finally, reports are circulating that Chelsea have made an official enquiry to Liverpool regarding their want away England International winger Raheem Sterling. Chelsea have wanted Sterling for sometime and there is no doubt that the player himself wants to be at a club seriously challenging for trophies. With the future uncertain for the Liverpool Boss Brendan Rodgers, it could well be a good time to tempt the owners with an offer. It is thought that The Blues will only pay up to £40 million but the reds want around £50 million.

I’m a huge fan of Sterling, I feel he could even up our quality on the opposite side of Eden Hazard and provide a similar threat. I also feel that there could potentially be a bidding war here and I don’t think Chelsea would want to get involved with that. I don’t think Liverpool will keep a player who doesn’t want to be there and if a transfer request comes in then I believe a fee will be placed on his head, any move from us will all depend on what that fee is.
