Good evening Chelsea fans and welcome to Monday’s transfer news update from CFCnet, where we take a look at the potential arrivals and departures at Stamford Bridge as the summer transfer window prepares to opens it’s doors.

First off, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao insists he is concentrating on his countries hopes in the Copa America tournament starting this month, rather than thinking of his future. However, it is apparent that there are behind the scenes talks going on between Chelsea and the players agent Jorge Mendes, who also happens to represent Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho.
Right now it is thought that a cut price deal or even a loan move could be looked at and Falcao himself fancies staying in the premier league to prove himself. £25 million is the fee being talked about for the previously prolific forward who has been wanted by Chelsea for some time.
On a personal level, I think that that fee is far too much for a 29-year-old who suffered a terrible loss of form last term in the premier league. I’d say that fee was too much of a risk. But to flip it, if we’re talking around £15-£20 million then I may be convinced and better still a loan deal with no risk attached and use him as a third choice striker. We’ll wait and see how this one pans out as Monaco will not want to cut their losses too much.
I’ve never rally been one for judging deals on what the book makers say but then as they quote “you’ll never see a poor bookies”, I’m inclined to take certain interest when all of a sudden they are making Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann odds on favourite to join the premier league champions. The high flying Spaniard has a £46.5 million buyout clause and it is thought that owner Roman Abramovich is considering activating it.
Meanwhile, Diego Costa is homesick… according to some slow news day press article this morning that’s been latched on to by the many other outlets. Costa has just had an excellent season at Chelsea being top scorer and becoming an instant fans favourite, he wanted this move really bad. Even IF he is missing home, I struggle to see that he is not settling when I see how genuinely happy he looks and the rapport he’s built with his team mates already. Besides, he’ll need to man up if that is the case as this club will not sell him at this point in time, I think there is more chance of Eden Hazard joining Macclesfiled Town this summer.
Finally, the talk about Paul Pogba’s future is heating up again and the links to Chelsea are building. It was thought that the Blues were priced out of the running for the sought after French International but with strong suggestions from decent sources linking Juventus to Chelsea midfielder Oscar, there may well be something worth keeping an eye on here. The Serie A club apparently want to sign Oscar, therefore the pendulum could be swinging back in Chelsea’s favour.
The Blues don’t want to sell Oscar and Mourinho has even quoted that he feels we will be seeing so much more from the Brazilian International this coming term, insinuating that he still figures in his plans. However, this could be a ploy to keep his value high in making rivals think that he is not for sale. Another interesting situation to monitor here.
