Good morning Blues and welcome to Monday’s Chelsea Fresh – where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the club.
First of all, with reports of a club overhaul in January – there are all sorts of players being linked with the club. But the usual names are still there being mentioned with the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani appearing to be topping the list. But can Chelsea still have that pulling power? Especially with unsettled reports regarding the Manager.
There has certainly been some major underlying issues at the club during the summer and Jose Mourinho was clearly made unhappy with his transfer targets not being given the green light and other players who were not wanted by Mourinho being bought in instead. But the question now is, will the board back Mourinho’s ability and grant him some of his major targets with the above mentioned players being forefront, or will they buckle under the pressure and oust their most successful Manager of all time?
Well, according to the major press outlets this morning – Jose Mourinho is on his way out and very much on his last legs, with a defeat to Liverpool being the be all and end all apparently. The board have already put plans in place to replace the Portuguese man – with some whispers that Guus Hiddink could be given an interim role until Bayern Munich’s Pep Guardiola becomes free at the end of the season.
Roman Abramovich has apparently been a huge fan of the former Barcelona player and manager and wanted him in ahead of Mourinho, with the latter not being first choice. But of course these are all merely press speculations and we have not had anything official regarding any of it as of yet.
On a final note, former Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola is apparently offering current Chelsea legend John Terry a route out of Stamford Bridge should he wish to bail out. Zola is coaching Qatar club Al-Arabi and is ready to take the 34-year old Chelsea captain abroad.
Do I believe that Terry will bail out of this situation right now? Hell no, if anything this will make him want to stay even more and drive the club out of this mess. It’s also worth noting on the side that John Terry has been made as a outside 10/1 bet to become the next Chelsea Manager by some bookies. Of course, I cannot see this happening just yet but never say never!
