Good morning Blues and welcome to Saturday’s edition of Chelsea Fresh – where we take a look at the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else at the club.

First up, Chelsea are expected to finalise and announce the deal for goalkeeper Marco Amelia today. The 33-year old will arrive as a free transfer on a short term deal to provide backup for Asmir Begovic.

Jose Mourinho said earlier in the week that he needed goalkeeping cover now and can’t wait until January. Amelia has plenty of experience and has played for AC Milan, Genoa, Palermo and his National side Italy, where he was part of the 2006 World Cup winning squad.

My thoughts? Beyond belief that we are bringing in a 33-year old free agent who only gained 9 caps for Italy ahead of relying on our youth once again in the shape of Jamal Blackman. I am sick to death of our youngsters not being given a chance, we have no need for an Academy if we are not going to integrate these players in. Right now, our Academy is making top class players for other teams!?

Next up, Roma have secured the permanent deal for winger Mohammed Salah from Chelsea after exercising their right to turn the loan deal in to a a permanent one. Salah joins a long list of Chelsea players who were simply not given the chance to fully show their potential and have now left the club, to become top class players. Another huge fault of the club right now, signing players on a whim but not giving them a proper chance to compete and selling them on. Why sign them in the first place? Why not just use youth?

Finally, Chelsea will apparently make a £29 million offer for Porto player Ruben Neves. The Blues scouts have been watching the 18-year old holding midfielder for some time and Jose Mourinho is a fan of his fellow countryman, who impressed against his side in midweek.
