Good Afternoon Blues and welcome to Wednesday’s news updates from CFCnet, where we gather the latest Chelsea news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the Stamford Bridge Club.
It was a good night in Europe for Chelsea, scoring 4 goals away from home and a few bright sparks stepping up once again. It was important to win and for me, even more important to get a flurry of goals. It’s been a long time since we have rolled a team over like that and this will do wonders for the confidence.
One player who still isn’t performing though is Diego Costa. Amidst rumours that he is still struggling to settle in England, he has now been involved in a public dispute with Manager Jose Mourinho and was restrained by club captain John Terry. Add this to his poor performances this season, the end could well be near for his short lived Chelsea future should Chelsea decide to cash in.
Mourinho played down the argument, which was about Costa’s poor positioning but history shows that it is never a good idea to question Mourinho or argue back. Costa has only scored one in the last 7 games and everyone has witnessed his lack of runs, movement in to the box and reluctance to play off the last man, all traits that Chelsea need from their striker.
Which is perhaps why the rumours are hotting up regarding a potential move for West Brom forward Saido Berahino, who is more of an instinctive striker that WILL make the type of movement wanted from Mourinho.
We reported yesterday that Chelsea are ‘confident’ of signing Berahino, but there are more sources backing this move now and it could have some real substance.
Finally, a laughable rumour has been quashed by Robin Van Persie himself as he revealed that he will be staying with Fenerbache and has received no offers from Chelsea or Barcelona, despite the talk of a move.
