Good Afternoon Blues and welcome to Monday mornings news updates from CFCnet, where we gather around the latest news, transfer rumours and anything else surrounding the club.
A slightly better atmosphere and feel around Chelsea Football Club after an important three points at the weekend and more importantly some of our key players finally deciding to turn up this season. The likes of Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard all looking like the immense players they were last season driving us to the title. It was even refreshing to see Jose Mourinho put his confidence in young Brazilian Kenedy, playing him from the start in the left back role – where he did exceedingly well.
The weekend was ended on some even more positive news as Eden Hazard finally spoke out to quash rumours and confirm he had no problems with the Manager. He had this to say in a reassuring and welcomed interview….
“I don’t have a problem with him,” said Hazard. “I heard a lot of things about this, but no. Everything is good with him. He is the best manager. He is the best manager for Chelsea and we hope we can win a lot of trophies together. Maybe not this season because it will be difficult, but next season and on.”
Mourinho deserves credit here in a season full of criticism – Hazard spoke to Jose suggesting that he tried him in the number 10 role and the Manager agreed and accommodated that and it has turned the Belgians fortunes around. He went on…
“We spoke together before the Stoke [Capital One Cup] game,” said Hazard. “I said to him ‘Maybe we have to try something, to change something. Maybe I have to play at No10 because we have to try’. We did and I played a very good game in the cup in Stoke. And, against Norwich, it was the same. I don’t know if I have to play every game as a No10. I just want to play.”
Hazard continued to confirm that he just wants to play and win more trophies with Chelsea, which suggests and end to any more rumours regarding a switch to Real Madrid. It appears the starlet is keen to stay and prove his worth once again, music to the ears of Blues fans.
This mornings UK Press outlets are reporting that Chelsea, as well as Manchester United, are interested in signing Southampton attacker Sadio Mane. The Senegalese high flyer is having an excellent couple of seasons in the Premier League and could be keen on moving to advance his career.
He almost joined United in the summer with the Reds failing to tie up the deal, but Southampton are also keen to keep a stronghold on their star man and tie him down at St Mary’s. There could well be interest from Chelsea, but if he is to be poised away, it will be for an extreme fee.
Something that may have a little more substance to it. Respected Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Boca Juniors Striker Jonathan Calleri.
The 22-year old is expected to leave Argentina in the January transfer window and Chelsea have offered £9.8 million for his services. But wait, surprise surprise, he’ll join the ridiculous number of Chelsea players who are currently out on loan, our Blue loan army! The report says he’ll go on loan to another Premier League club for the rest of the season.
Finally, new signing Michael Hector is likely to be recalled from his loan spell at his former club Reading, this according to Reading official Samrit Thanakanchanasut.
Chelsea signed Hector on deadline day in the summer and loaned him straight back to the Championship side. But it seems that they now require his services sooner than expected as Mourinho searches for fast ball playing defenders.
Reading will contest their attempts to bring him back early and if it did happen, Chelsea will have to pay compensation. But it certainly highlights Chelsea’s desire to bring in new defenders.
