Good Evening Blues and welcome to Transfer Centre from CFCnet, where we take a look at the latest Chelsea transfer rumours surrounding the club during this January transfer window as it comes to a close.
First of all, the thing we know for sure is that it is highly likely we have two new arrivals, one of which has already passed a medical and the other is having it right now. However, Alexandre Pato who is in London to finalise the deal and complete his medical, has had his deal held up due to the loan terms. It will feature an option to buy from Corinthians at the end of the season, but according to Sky Sports, there has been a few things to tie up but the deal is still happening.
Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he actually turned down a chance to sign Pato whilst at QPR and had this to say about Chelsea’s impending new arrival…
He told the Evening Standard: “If I was a Chelsea fan, I wouldn’t be getting too excited about signing Alexandre Pato. They have already got Willian, Oscar and Eden Hazard — where is Pato going to play? They have about four or five players just like him so I don’t see where he fits into Chelsea’s team”“I was offered Pato at QPR this time last year but we turned him down because he wasn’t what we needed at the time. He played against my Tottenham team when we faced AC Milan in the Champions League but seems to have faded away and ended up back in Brazil. He’s a little bit like Bojan at Stoke.”The second arrival will be 20-year old American International Matt Miazga from MLS side New York Red Bulls, who is undergoing his medical at Chelsea right now, ahead of the defenders £3.5 million move across the pond.
