After a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge it is clear that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is desperate to put this right as soon as physically possible and put in place a top squad for incoming Manager Antonio Conte, who will officially be arriving after his European Championship campaign with Italy.

Chelsea have many alleged targets on the shortlist including such names as N’Golo Kante, Romelu Lukaku, Gonzalo Higuaín and Alvaro Morata just to name a few. The issue though for Chelsea’s negotiators and new Manager will be the commitments of these players in the summer International Tournaments. There is a refusal to even want to think about their futures until after these competitions are ended and their minds are clear.

Chelsea also have the problem of not being able to offer immediate European football, so how many of these big names will actually consider joining? Especially with the top rival clubs being linked also. The Blues however do have Conte, and this man attracts the top players due to him being highly regarded in world football and the chance to play under him is proving to be a real appeal, and it is truly needed.

Chelsea will have a busy summer, Abramovich will give Conte the green light to spend money and bring players in. Despite rival clubs acting fast and getting deals done BEFORE the summers tournaments, Chelsea are already lagging behind. But the month or so after the competitions, Chelsea will be a busy club and will need to act swiftly to get deals done. They will look to get the squad in place before pre-season with those friendlies coming in thick and fast.

The Blues supporters can certainly expect new faces around Stamford Bridge this summer and perhaps some familiar ones disappearing.
