It’s the transfer rumour that won’t go away. It appears that Chelsea Football Club are preparing to off load Champions League winner, John Obi Mikel.
Reports in France say, the Nigerian international, who has been with the club for 10 years, is surplus to Antonio Conte’s requirements.
Apparently, the new boss of Marseilles, Rui Garcia is looking to strengthen his squad and the 29-year-old, free scoring midfielder is top of his transfer target list.
However, if it is true, but Marseilles fail to entice Mikel, there is also interest from China, where he could be guaranteed an annual salary of over £3.0m, which matches his current earning capability.
We’re not sure if losing Mikel could harm Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four this season. The September odds were 8/11 in favour of an exit, but with many online experts such as SBAT yet to publish their tips, the result is still too close to call.
