Chelsea U23 2:1 Feyenoord U23
The Premier League International Cup is still a bit of a head melt to understand but our development got the better of Dutch opposition after we struggled a bit until they were reduced to ten-men and Dujon Sterling and Fikayo Tomori scored late goals to give us the advantage.
Both teams observed a minute’s silence in honour of the Brazilian football team Chapecoense who were involved in a plane crash in Columbia that killed most of the team.
It seems 77 people died in the crash including players, coaches and journalists.
Chapecoense were on their way to play Atletico Nacional of Medellin in the Copa Sudamericana (the continent’s version of the Uefa Cup). The Columbian side have asked that Chapecoense be awarded the trophy as a mark of respect.  If you fancy Chelsea as a outsider for the Premier League why not check out the best odds at Smartbets.

On a darker note, the club issued a statement that they have appointed an external law firm to look into child abuse allegations relating to a youth coach employed during the 1970s who has subsequently died.

It now seems clear that Chelsea paid Gary Johnson £50,000 after he approached them about being abused by Eddie Heath, a youth team coach who died back in the 1980s.
The money was a form of compensation but it seems a confidentiality clause was included.
It is not clear whether the club passed on everything it knew to the FA or were trying to hush up our part in the scandal.
Either way it is a pretty shameful chapter in our recent management of the club. We can only hope they learn a lot about honesty and openness from this.

Manchester City 1:3 Chelsea
This was a storming statement of intent as we roared back into the contest that looked to be slipping away until the hour.
City didn’t really deserve the lead, handed to them by Cahill’s clumsy attempted clearance on half-time. 1-0.
We had been more than competitive and limited our host’s chances. What they did manage to create we blacked or saved while not quite clicking in attack ourselves.
That changed when Kevin de Bryune hit the bar with a thunderous shot only for, the recalled, Cesc Fabregas to release Diego Costa on the break away at the other end to hold off defenders to score with ease. 1-1
City gamely continued to come forward but Willian was the next to profit on the break as Costa spun his man and feed the Brazilian who gave us the lead across their goalkeeper’s weak attempted save. 1-2
The icing on the cake came from Eden Hazard as we looked to batten down defensive hatches he raced on to another ball over the top to secure the win. 1-3.
A bit off biff on the pitch at the end started with Aguero’s scything tackle on David Luiz and continued with Fernandinho repeatedly grabbing at Fabregas’ throat. The FA will have to sort out the bans and recriminations. Chelsea players though, on the whole, behaved impeccably.

Arsenal U18 2:2 Chelsea U18
Ike Ugbo and Martell Taylor-Crossdale scored the two goals that gave us a hansom lead but we let it slip in the last fifteen-minute and secured only the draw.

Earlier the club issued an acknowledgement that it might of mishandled the Gary Johnson incident and have vowed to do all they can to help him and make sure that nobody else suffers in the way he has.
They confirmed that they thought the abuse had been reported to the police and FA by Johnson’s solicitors and confirmed that an external investigation will examine why they insisted on a confidentiality clause.

Nathan Ake is really developing down in Bournemouth – now a regular at left-back, he even popped up with a winner in their match today against Liverpool, a result that leaves us three points clear at the top with Arsenal in second place.
