3 players who could be wearing Chelsea colours next season
With the 2017-18 season behind us, Antonio Conte and his staff are currently looking to strengthen our squad over the summer ahead of a title defence and a UEFA Champions League campaign next season.
As Premier League champions and enjoying the riches we have, we can attract virtually any player around the world, perhaps with the exception of players at Real Madrid and Barcelona.
A nice luxury to have, but this past season we were able to run away with the Premier League title after signing players from Leicester City, Fiorentina, Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille – such is how good our manager is.
Well, here’s a look at three players a number of media sources reckon could be at Stamford Bridge next season:
The exciting Turkish midfielder has been linked to us and Arsenal for a while now, even despite being banned from football for the past four months. Hakan Çalhanoğlu has an excellent long range shot on him and his record in Germany with Hamburg and Bayer 04 Leverkusen is impressive in terms of both goals and assists.
Still only 23, his record in the Champions League is decent too considering Bayer 04 are not a major team in the competition. With fees previously reported as high as £33 million I cannot see Conte making an offer for a player who would be a bit-part player given that his primary role is occupied by Eden Hazard. Interestingly, Bets10 bookie in Turkey are favouring a move back to Turkey but I cannot see that happening with all the bigger clubs that are interested.
What a move it would be if we could take Alexis Sánchez from Arsenal. Many expect the Chilean superstar to leave the Emirates this summer in search of Champions League football and that’s one thing we can offer him, as well as a title challenge.
We face heavy competition from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain and we’re probably the last club that Arsène Wenger would want to sell him too. But just imagine him on the right wing and Hazard on the left. Dear Premier League opponents: try stopping us!
Diego Costa’s quotes about Antonio Conte no longer wanting last season’s top scorer came out at an interesting time. You’d expect it means we have a replacement lined up and Romelu Lukaku’s agent has previously said his client is joining a Premier League side in next season’s Champions League. It’s basically us and Manchester United and given that José Mourinho got rid of him last time, I’m confident it’s us.
Lukaku finished runners-up in the Golden Boot race which isn’t bad at all given that he was playing for Everton. The Belgian striker knows where the back of the net is and isn’t bad in the air. He’s got a poor first touch and doesn’t have a right foot but I don’t see that being a problem when he’ll have the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Cesc Fàbregas and Marcos Alonso creating tap-ins for him.
