Antonio Conte has hinted that he could hand a first start to youngster Kyle Scott following the injury to N’Golo Kante (via The Metro).

It’s always a blow to lose a crucial first-team player to injury and especially one as important as N’Golo Kante is to Chelsea.

However, as the Frenchman prepares for a month on the sidelines, his absence could provide certain opportunities to the rest of the Chelsea squad.

Now, Antonio Conte has hinted that he could use Kante’s absence as a chance to bring through one of Chelsea’s young players as the Blues prepare for the match against Crystal Palace.

“This [Kante] is a big loss for us,” the Italian said in his pre-match press conference. “You know very well the importance of Kante in our team and we don’t have another player with the same characteristics.

“For sure it’s not lucky for us in this period. In midfield, we only have Bakayoko and Fabregas available.

“We have to approach seven games in on month and for this reason, in this period we have to find solutions and adapt some defenders in midfield or to give opportunities to young players like [Kyle] Scott to play from the start.”

Kyle Scott is 19 years old and has been at Chelsea for a decade. He has made it onto the bench on two occasions in the Premier League this season but has yet to appear on the pitch. Hopefully, both player and manager will view Kante’s absence as an opportunity to grab with both hands.
