Thibaut Courtois has his sights set on a new big-money Chelsea contract which would see him draw level with Eden Hazard (via The Metro).

One problem which is becoming more common for the major clubs in Europe is players refusing to sign new contracts.

Arsenal are in a dire situation, Manchester United have a few, even FC Barcelona are struggling to tie Lionel Messi down to a new deal.

Chelsea could soon be in a similar situation with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ current deal due to expire in 2019.

Reports indicate that the Belgian is looking for a substantial increase on his current £120,000/week deal to something in line with Eden Hazard at £300,000/week.

If his demands are not met then it is suggested that Real Madrid could turn their attentions to the Belgian stopper.

It’s a worrying situation for the club. Thibaut Courtois is obviously one of the best goalkeepers in the world and losing him at his age would be a hefty blow. Let’s hope a deal can be reached soon.
