Everton begin a tough series of three away fixtures against league champions Chelsea on Wednesday evening in west London as both sides look to progress beyond the Carabao Cup fourth round – we bring you the latest news heading up to kick-off, likely team sheets and the very latest team odds.

Fourth Round Carabao Cup Preview

Chelsea have had somewhat of a sticky patch away at Crystal Palace and salvaging a draw at home to Roma, but a morale boosting win last time out against one of the Premier League’s surprise packages, Watford, has got Antonio Conte’s side back on track. Everton on the other hand sit 18th in the Premier League and ultimately sacked Dutchman Ronald Koeman on Monday afternoon and have appointed U23 boss David Unsworth as caretaker for the foreseeable future.

Everton don’t have a League Cup to their name, but Chelsea on the other hand have five cup final wins – the last of which came back in the 14/15 season where the Blues defeated London rivals Tottenham. Caretaker boss Unsworth will hope his appointment can lead to a ‘bounce effect’ which seems to happen when a new face comes in, and that’s surely something Conte will be aware of, in a fixture that could see rotation play a big part in the outcome of this fourth round tie.

Chelsea v Everton Team News

It remains the same names on the injury list for Chelsea as N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses are all out but Antonio Conte could decide to field a strong side to make a real fist of the cup and to also regain some momentum which got lost in recent weeks.

Everton meanwhile will have to do without Idrissa Gueye due to his red card against Arsenal this past Sunday. However, midfielders Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy are available.

Latest Chelsea v Everton Odds

It’s quite obvious that the bookmakers really do fancy the Blues to triumph on Wednesday against Everton with Chelsea the overwhelming favourites and are best priced at 9/17 (1.53). Everton on the other hand will have to overcome odds of 13/2 (7.50) if they are to put an end to a miserable run of results.

You have to go back to March 2016 at Goodison Park for Everton’s last victory over Chelsea, but perhaps even more daunting for the Toffees is that they haven’t won at the home of the champions since February 2011 in the FA Cup.

Predicted Chelsea Lineup

Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Gary Cahill, Davide Zappacosta, Cesc Fabregas, Tiémoué Bakayoko, Kenedy, Charly Musonda, Willian and Michy Batshuayi.
