Chelsea are running the real risk of losing one of the brighter young talents in 22-year old Andreas Christensen who is said to be running out of patience for a regular run of first team games.
Today in talkSPORT (originally from Gazzetta dello Sport) the latest is that the Danish international defender is a target for Italian side AC Milan, who are seeking defensive reinforcements of their own and are apparently sensing an opportunity to land Christensen.
So far under Maurizio Sarri this season, Andreas Christensen hasn’t made any Premier League appearances, instead being limited to Europa League and League Cup outings for the Blues. This is in stark contrast to last season, where the Dane made 40 appearances for Chelsea – 27 of which were in the Premier League.
A route out of west London to Milan though could very well materialise in January with the former Champions League winners desperate to strengthen further in a bid to return to the top of Italian football.
Last month on CFCnet a story via the Express surfaced regarding Andreas Christensen’s agent, who also happens to be his father, in claiming that if the situation regarding the defender doesn’t improve by the January transfer window then action could be taken;
If his situation doesn’t change around Christmas, we’ll obviously schedule a chat with Chelsea and say, ‘okay, what can we do for Andreas? Can we move him?
Chelsea are continuing with a settled XI this season under Maurizio Sarri in the league and as the unbeaten run continues fans are unlikely to call for change to the defensive line-up. Ultimately this leaves Christensen with little leverage in the current set-up of the squad.
