Marcos Alonso has provided Chelsea fans with a welcome update on his future at the club (via The Standard).

He’s been perhaps the standout player at Stamford Bridge in the last few seasons so it was worrying to see Marcos Alonso being linked with a move away from the club.

Alonso joined Chelsea back in 2016 and has shone for the club at left wing-back, both domestically and in Europe.

This form attracted some admirers and it was reported several weeks back that Paris Saint-Germain were looking at the Spaniard as a potential summer transfer target.

Now, the 27-year-old has responded to the transfer rumours with an update which will please Blues fans.

“I have not considered that possibility, I just try to give the best of me to my team.

“I made my [Real Madrid] debut with [Manuel] Pellegrini in 2009/10, and that summer I had the opportunity to go to the Premier League.

“I don’t know what would’ve happened if I stayed, I live in the present.”

It’s good that Marcos Alonso has come out and put these rumours to bed. The Spaniard is a hugely influential player in the Chelsea team and, hopefully, will be for many years to come.
