The Mirror report that last summer’s big signing Alvaro Morata has given his approval to make a return to Italy and play for AC Milan next season.

While Alvaro Morata has agreed to making the switch to the San Siro, Chelsea at this point are yet to agree any kind of transfer fee with AC Milan over the transfer and the sticking point may be that the club want to recoup all of what they paid last year, and hopefully some extra.

The fee reported is in region of £58 million to £62 million and while it is not yet agreed, it’s expected that there won’t be too much issue in getting it done.

Alvaro Morata arrived at Stamford Bridge with a lot of hype and expectation, but an injury and failing to adapt to life in London has made it all but inevitable that the striker will end up leaving the club before the summer transfer window slams shut. Morata scored just 11 Premier League goals in 31 appearances in his debut season for the Blues.

Morata recently played for the Blues in their 1-0 win against Perth Glory in a pre-season match, the first under boss Maurizio Sarri, but came in for a lot of criticism with talkSPORT covering the fans displeasure on social media with his performance. Not a lot came off for Morata who played for an hour before being replaced by Tammy Abraham (who was on-loan at Swansea City last season).

Whether it’s a lack of confidence or just waiting to get out of the club, Morata appears to need something to trigger a resurgence in-form – be it at the Blues or at a club like AC Milan.
