An unfamiliar name for most, Wallace Dos Santos from Brazil. Well it seems like we better get used to the name, because Sky Italia are reporting tonight that Wallace is now a Chelsea player.
So who is he and what do we know?
Wallace is an 18-year old attacking minded right back who plays his football for Fluminese over in Brazil. Chelsea allegedly already owned 40% of the player before we’ve ‘signed’ him in what seemed to be some kind of pre-deal organised by Chelsea officials a year ago.
He stands at 5’9 and is a strong, physical type player who is tough in the tackle. Predominantly though he is an exciting wing back who loves to get forward. At International level he has played alongside Lucas Piazon within the Under-17 setup and even scored a goal in the youth World Cup. He is said to be a good all round right back offering both top assets going forward and defending. Have we finally found our right sided Ashley Cole?
So where is he going to figure now we’re signing Cesar Azpilicueta?
Well I still stand by the fact that Ivanovic is not a right back, so I see wallace as a perfect backup to Cesar and by the sounds of it will soon be challenging him to the main right back spot, a healthy bit of competition to an area that has been a problem for us for sometime now. If the deal has happened, it’s certainly an exciting move for us.
