According to Goal, Barcelona’s president candidate Augusti Benedito has spoken out about the Lionel Messi transfer saga and confirmed that there are big offers on the table for Messi to go and play abroad.
Although he could not confirm which country these offers are coming in from, he did say that he believes the current board are not concerned about keeping their star player happy. He also believes that Messi himself is monitoring the situation and will wait to see who comes in as the next club president.
Jose Mourinho has continued to play down any talk linking Chelsea with Messi but he’s done that on many occasions before and then went on to buy the player. It’s pretty certain that if Messi became available, The Blues would pursue a move and this latest news comes as a surprising boost.
The Argentine superstar featured in Barcelona’s victory over Manchester City on Tuesday evening and had a penalty saved by England number one Joe Hart. His future continues to remain unclear and it is inevitable that he is weighing up different options.
