Barcelona’s out-of-favour forward, Pedro has in the past few days been subject serious speculation regarding his future with most news outlets reporting that he will join Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has publicly expressed interest in the player with Pedro also apparently interested in a move but it is really that simple?
The Metro reported that the winger actually had a phone conversation with Jose Mourinho over a move and both parties found the switch desirable. Cesc Fabregas is also said to have put in a good word for Chelsea in a discussion with Pedro. After that, signing seemed to be just a formality until Pedro denied talking to anyone and labelled it as disrespect to Barcelona. However, he did assert that the Catalans have received several offers for him.
The Spaniard’s release fee is around £22million, certainly affordable for the English Champions and with the signing of Arda Turan a move looks very much on the cards. The real question is whether he will join Chelsea knowing a starting place is not guaranteed especially as Liverpool and Arsenal have also expressed interest.
