John Terry has vowed not to give up on the double and to fight for two trophies for Chelsea this season. JT is still setting his sights on both the Premier League and Champions League trophies.
Since the Blues have re-discovered their form in a five-match unbeaten run, it looks more and more likely that they are in with a good chance of some silverware.
The Blues captain told the media:
“We won’t give up chasing or fighting.
“All we can do is win our own games, keep going to the end and see what happens at the top.”
Chelsea faces FC Copenhagen on Wednesday and are strong favourites to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals.
In true leader style, whilst manager Ancelotti has all but written off the club’s Premier League chances, Terry still wants to Keep the Blue Flag Flying High and believes they can retain the title.
Terry wants to repay the fans for sticking with the team this season through one of the hardest times in recent years. He was keen highlight:
“We could still make this a good season and we’re up for the challenge. It’s time to show what we’re capable of. This is a massive time for us.”
“Our fans have kept faith with us this season and we owe it to our supporters to finish the season strongly, showing the quality we have and picking up big results.”
Terry’s comments come just days after Petr Cech said the club have not given up hope of winning the Premier League title.
“You can see teams dropping points so we will definitely have a go and try to retain the title,” said Cech ahead of the trip to Blackpool last Monday.
As a True Blue, I strongly believe we can catch United, we just need the belief throughout the squad and they need the manager behind them making the right decisions. Drogba needs to regain his confidence, when he is on form and has the determination; he is our strongest chance of winning trophies.
Fans, me included, are desperate for Torres to score his first Chelsea goal; but at this stage in the season and with as much at stake as we have, we need to be sticking with what we know works and I think he needs to be left to fit into the team in his own way.
The rest of the squad can win us the Champions League and the Premier League and he will support in his own way. There is too much being made of who he plays best with and how he is getting homesick, I don’t believe we can keep chancing games with different formations, he needs to find his feet first.
We face Manchester City next Sunday in the Premier League and if we go into this match off the back of booking our place in the Champions League quarter-finals, we have a great chance of securing another 3 points. This week could be a great boost for the Blues and the fans if we continue our current form.
The 2010/11 season is set to have an exciting and nail-biting ending and no one should be writing off the current champions.
